Alex Golten

Alex is the firm’s chief risk officer. In addition, he serves as chair of the Firmwide Risk Appetite Committee and co-chair of the Firmwide Risk Council, Firmwide Enterprise Risk Committee and the Firmwide Artificial Intelligence Risk Committee. Alex is also a member of the Management Committee and Firmwide Asset Liability Committee.

Alex joined Goldman Sachs in 1997 as an analyst in the Credit Department and has worked in London and New York. He has held various leadership roles in the Risk Division as the firm’s chief credit risk officer, and head of Market Risk, Finance Risk, and Enterprise Risk. Alex was named managing director in 2008 and partner in 2014.

Alex earned an MA in Economics from the University of Edinburgh.
